This course is designed for employees that are currently undertaking, or shortly due to move into, a supervisory or first line management position with direct responsible for a team of personnel.
This will include roles such as - warehouse supervisor; quayside foreman; offshore crane supervisor; HSE Team Leader; facilities maintenance supervisor; discipline engineers; transport supervisors and others working in an operational environment.
By the end of the course, participants will;
Have an improved understanding of their role and responsibilities
Have the ability to provide their teams with clear direction
Be able to develop tasks and targets for team members and understand how to cascade these expectations to subordinates and how to monitor performance
Understand how to develop their charges into an effective team
Be competent with staff rostering and task scheduling
Be aware of their responsibility for HSE and be able to take a pro-active role in implementing HSE policy
Be able to develop within their team an HSE Awareness culture
Appreciate the effects of change on the dynamics of their team
Be aware of how ‘behaviours’ affect function and use them as a positive advantage for their team
Demonstrate their proficiency in setting SMART objectives and monitoring the implementation and performance
Know wow to communicate effectively, both to line managers, peers and subordinates
Be familiar with the basics of leadership/management and how to set a good example.
