What will the delegates take away from the course?
- An understanding of what "personality disorder" (PD) is, along with issues of controversy surrounding it
- A 2 step guide to professional behaviour when working with PD clients - in whatever context Intra- and inter- team responses to PD - protocols and guidelines
- Therapeutic approaches for working with PD - differences and similarities to working with other client groups
- Working successfully with lying, manipulation and threat
How would you deal with the following?
- Peter (43 yrs) has a diagnosis of Antisocial Personality Disorder. He perceives any demands made on him as irrelevant and oppressive and attempts to bully in all his relationships.
- Donna (27 yrs) has a history of multiple abuse and a diagnosis of Borderline Personality Disorder. She describes her life as being like "a ball in a pin-ball machine" over which she has no control. Her behaviour is frequently chaotic and dependant.
