Sociology is the study of social behaviour, including its origins, development and organisation. It is a social science that uses various methods of investigation and critical analysis to develop knowledge about social order, social disorder and social change. Sociology overlaps various disciplines that study society, such as economics, psychology and political science.

About this course
The Sociology Level 3 Course is aimed at individuals with an interest in learning more about the society we live in and how it came to be. Sociology is the study of the social world. It involves studying human beings and their patterns of behaviour such as, the effect that the groups people join or are born into (family, work, education and so forth) have upon people’s social behaviour. Sociology is about developing a critical understanding of society, and through this understanding providing a basis for highlighting and explaining social problems such as ill health, poverty and crime.
You don’t need any prior skills in the subject area to start this course.
At the end of this course, successful learners will receive a Certificate of Achievement by ABC Awards and a Learner Unit Summary (which lists the details all of the units you have completed as part of your course).
