What will I study?
This is a practical, work-related course. The six Year 1 units complete the National Award: The Body in Action; Health & Safety in Sport; Training & Fitness for Sport; Fitness Testing for Sport & Exercise; Practical Team/Individual Sports; Leadership in Sport

The six Year 2 units convert this to a full Certificate: Sports Coaching; Sports Development; Outdoor & Adventurous Activities; Instructing Physical Activity & Exercise; Psychology for Sports Performance; Work-Based Experience in Sport.

Study Visits
Possible residential in the Lake District to complete the Outdoor & Adventurous Activities Unit.

Sports Leading & Sports Coaching within local primary and secondary schools.

Work placement with a relevant organisation.

Cost
Cost of residential trip during second year - approximately £90 - £100.

A deposit of £20 to secure a place will be asked for during the end of the first year.

Assessment
All units assessed through portfolio assignments.

Useful Supporting Courses
The Award equates to one full A Level and the Certificate to two.

They can lead to higher education and careers in sport psychology, fitness and sport therapy, as well as practical performance.

You may also be able to add training in First Aid and qualify for the Community Sports Leader Award.
