Sports Massage is specialised by being concerned with the application of massage techniques to a specific body area aimed at meeting specific individual needs, including re-habilitation following medical treatments for injury.

Entry Requirements·Level 3 Swedish Massage Therapy VR17
·Level 3 Health and Safety Diploma VR02/74
·A recognised First Aid Certificate (over 6 hours)

The learner needs to either have these on application, or be studying them alongside.

A good understanding of written and spoken English is required.
Course Content
Sports massage to include·VR132 - Provide sports massage in all environments
·VR163 - Understand and advise on joint and muscle function in physical activity
·VR164 - Understand skeletal injuries and conditions and advise on post medical treatments

The critical aspects of the Sports Massage qualification are to ensure that massage is provided safely and effectively to relieve muscular pain and tension and symptoms of the clients physical condition.
The Diploma requires an enhanced knowledge of Anatomy & Physiology and the use of techniques for relaxation, lymphatic drainage, posture improvement and stress relief.
How will I be assessed?
The primary purpose of the qualification is to be used in the workplace therefore it is suitable for those employed in sports related jobs.
The assessment will be based on:·Continual practical assessment·On-site practical applications·Project/assignments work·Written assessment.
