This is a fully immersive and practical course in which you will gain valuable hands-on experience of and an insight into the entire technical process involved in mounting a theatre production to professional standards. You will work ‘in role’ under the guidance of an experienced course tutor and engage with the director and the acting students that comprise the City Lit Theatre company. Forming part of the tech team you will work towards meeting the full technical demands of the term's production which will be performed to the public, on site in the John Lyon's Theatre. Depending on interest, aptitude and any prior learning you will develop skills in one of the core areas of stage management, lighting or sound and gain insight into the full theatrical process from initial rehearsal through to performance week. There may also be opportunities to explore design elements of the show including lighting, sound, set and costume.
This is a demanding course in which you will work collaboratively and creatively as you develop some key skills and begin to build a C.V. For some of the technical roles you will need to be fully present at every single session throughout the entire course and your role may involve a large element of independent learning/work beyond the sessions.

Production Week- Sunday 31st March to Sunday 7th April.
In addition to the weekly course hours, you are likely to be required to attend each session during production week. From Monday to Friday, you will need to be in the Theatre from 18.00 - 22.30 and from 13.30 on Saturday to cover the Matinee and evening performance. Both the Sundays – the ‘get in’ and ‘get out’ can be long days depending on the needs of the production.
