About this course
Learners need to demonstrate the desire, willingness and commitment to learn the skills required to lead an independent and purposeful life with aims to move into employment. Willingness and interest to learn to travel independently. Satisfactory report from previous College course or school.

Course programme
Course Overview
This course is learner centred, offering the learner's pathways to employment.
Learners will have the opportunity to be involved in a mini enterprise. Providing a retail service across College which involves marketing, deliveries and money handling.
Course Structure
Each course will consist of:
- ICT/functional skills
- Personal development/tutorial
- Work related studies
- Subject related teaching
- 1 days work placement
- Travel Training
- Residential related to the work being carried out on the course
Retail topics will include
- Working on the section stores project
- Learning stock rotation and food hygiene
- Health and safely in the work place
- Money skills
- Seasonal selling
- Visits to shopping outlets
- Talks and visits from larger retail
Learners will be taught in groups of 8-10 with one support staff to a class. Each learner has an individual learning plan
Qualification Aims
The learner work towards achieving a qualification through individual targets at Entry 2 or 3.
Assessments/Examinations
Continuous assessments and review throughout the course, following the requirements of the accreditation
Cost / Equipment
Tuition is free to learners who are under 25 years at the start of the course. Learners who are in receipt of income support are requested to provide this evidence. There will be costs for accreditation/certification.

Uniform, overalls and as course requires
Demands of the Course
- Learners will be expected to wear suitable protective clothing/uniform, have good personal hygiene and follow Health and Safety rules
- Learners will be made aware of and expected to follow course and College rules
- Learners are expected to commit themselves to the course and work placement
- Willingness to learn to travel independently
