This is an opportunity to practice the skills you’ve acquired on any of your Digital Arts classes or to develop your own personal projects in a studio environment. You will have access to the equipment and facilities of the Digital Arts studio for use within the studio. You will be expected to work independently as this is not a taught session, but you will be able to access online help and some manuals and teaching texts are available. A technician will be available to issue equipment and supervise the room. The studio has Apple Mac computers with the latest digital arts software and equipment.

This is not a taught course By using the facilities in the Digital Arts studio you will be able to progress with individual Digital Arts projects and gain confidence and competence in using software applications and the techniques of your specialist area.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

As you will be working independently you are expected to be able to demonstrate safe and correct use of the equipment in the Digital Arts Studio. You will need an understanding of Apple Mac computers if you would like to use the computer equipment.
You should be able to follow simple written and verbal instructions, hand-outs and health and safety information. You should be able to use numbers and be able to do simple measurements and calculations.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

You will be expected to work independently during Studio time sessions. These sessions are not taught, they are opportunities for you to practice your skills or develop your projects. You may take advantage of handouts from your course or online help.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

If you wish to use our Epson archival inkjet printers, we will charge you as following: Epson archival matt: 50p each for A4, £1 each for A3. This needs to paid in cash to the studio technician.
You should bring a memory stick to store images and it would be useful to bring an external hard drive if you wish to safely store your moving image footage and projects.
