Introduction:
This Open College of the North West (OCNW) course is designed for students who wish to complete a course in Study Skills, but are unable to attend regular classes.

Study Mode & Location:
This 16 week part-time course will last for three hours per week. It will be held at Preston College, Fulwood Campus, St Vincent`s Road, Preston, PR2 8UR.

Course Content:
The course provides a "return to learning" opportunity. The focus is very much on your individual needs and the development of essential study skills, such as essay writing and research skills. The course often serves as a stepping stone back into education after a period of absence.

Assessment:
Assessment is a three step process which includes a short piece of work (500 words), an extended piece (1,200 words) and a portfolio of work.

Success on this course allows progression to many courses and learning programmes. Study Skills provides you with the basic took-kit needed to make the most of any further learning.

How To Apply
You will need to have an informal interview with a Adult Admissions Adviser.
Many courses have limited places so please enquire as soon as possible. Following interview, the earliest you may enrol is mid-June.

Depending upon your circumstances, you may be able to study for FREE or at a reduced price.
