Objectives & Course Content

By the end of this course you should be able to:

  • Define what constitues goo and poor practie in supervision
  • Explain the benefits of supervision
  • Understand the role of the supervisor
  • Draw together the key elements of supervision: Education/development, task & support
  • Identify the range of skills required for good supervision
  • Understand the four evolutionary stages in a supervisory relationship
  • Demonstrate some active listening skills, including the use of silence, body lanopen & reflective questioning & summarising
  • Know how to build the supervision relationship including the negotiation and use of supervision contracts; practical arrangements, structure and confidentiality and note taking.
  • Know how to start off; what to cover in the few first sessions.
