Supervisory Development OCN Level 2

Student Profile: This programme is designed for people who wish to gain an understanding of principles and practice of Supervisory Development. No prior knowledge is required.

Objectives Provide a development opportunity which teaches the broad concepts of supervision for people taking on, or planning to take on, a supervisory role in their work environment.

Accreditation The course leads to the award of the Certificate in Supervisory Development (Level 2) from OCN, a leading UK awarding body recognised by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority.

Study Method The course is designed for study by distance learning at work or at home. Students receive course manual, assignments and studyguide plus tutor support by mail and email. You can start at any time and plan your studies over a period of up to one year from the time of registration.

Assessment Each element is followed by a written assignment, which is submitted and marked by your tutor. There is no external examination required. There is no word count for these assignments, however you do have to prove to your tutor that you have fully understood the question asked.

Course Duration Students may register at any time and have a full year to complete their studies. The course will take around 100 hours of study to complete.

Course Content The course is divided up into eight modules, as follows: Module 1: The Role of the Supervisor in the Management of Others Module 2: Effective Time Management Module 3: The Recruitment and Selection of Staff Module 4: Supervising the Section or Department Module 5: Effective Communication Module 6: Basic Finance for the Supervisor Module 7: Analysing Training Needs for Staff Module 8: Personal Development
