About the course:
This new NVQ course replaces the CACHE NVQ Teaching Assistants Level 3. It is for classroom assistants, who are in paid employment for a minimum of 15 hours a week supporting pupils aged 4-16 years in a school setting or students in a FE setting working up to or at Key stage 4. It is also suitable for those working in either setting with pupils with special educational needs
Course Content:
The Level 3 course comprises of 10 units of competence from the national occupational standards. There are 6 mandatory units that each candidate must achieve, and 4 of the optional units. Selection of optional units will be a matter of choice for the candidate in consultation with their work setting. Career aspirations and employment requirements should be taken into consideration. The course also includes a First Aid certificate.

A4 leverarch folders and/or A4 ringbinder
Assessment:
Assessment is through direct observation of performance in the workplace, building on best practice in your role, written questions, discussion and completion of a portfolio of evidence.
Progression:
Progression to a Foundation degree at University.
Additional Information:
Part time evening. Class teachers will need to agree to the signing of some work and provide witness testimonies where relevant. It is suggested that you ensure you will have this support and if possible bring confirmation of this to your interview. If you are on a qualifying means tested benefit the tuition fees for some courses may be reduced. However you will still need to pay Exam and College costs. You must claim tuition fee remission by providing evidence before enrolment.

Requirement
Candidates must have an NVQ2 in Children's Care learning & Development, be employed in a childcare environment as a Childminder or Nanny and be over 18 years old. The candidate must be able to reference previous experience to enable us to determine performance at Level 3. Candidates need to have either A-C in GCSE Maths and English, Level 2 in Literacy and Numeracy, an equivalent qualification or be willing to study this along side the course. Candidates need to be able to show proof of qualifications.
