Tai Chi 11 yrs +

The Tai Chi taught at the Centre is Yang Style and the result of 4 decades of study with top masters from all over the world by Martin Gatter and Steve Rowe. Over the last decade, both have studied with James Uglow in England and Steve has travelled to Hong Kong to study with Ma Lee Yang (the daughter of the famous Yang Sau Chung). The programme begins with chi kung (qiqong) exercises to help quieten the mind, breath and heart, correct the posture, strengthen the body's core muscles and allow 'free passage' of energy and vitality through the body. We also work on the first section of the traditional 'Yang Chen Fu' form putting those exercise skills into movement and partnered 'push hands' exercises.

As you progress the skills become more refined working on that which which makes your mind and body stronger, such as posture, breathing, mental intention, skill and technique through the second and third sections of the Yang Chen Fu form and more advanced levels of the chi kung exercises and push hands.

For those that are interested in the martial aspects of tai chi we offer additional training in the 2 man form, Long Boxing form, double edged sword, broadsword, spear, pole and application work.
