This is an advanced tap class where you must be secure in your basic technique, tap terminology and confident to be able to work individually as well as in a group. It is important to have a good understanding of rhythm, tempo, beat and syncopation. Hard work and fun are the aims for this course.

About this course

By the end of the course you should be able to dance with confidence the more challenging steps (pick ups, wings, maxi fords etc.) and rhythms. You should be able to dance to various rhythms, styles of music, and be comfortable with syncopation.

It is essential to have good shoes and Tap shoes are necessary for this class. Having the correct shoes can really improve your technique and give you a much better feeling for the style of dance. The Tap shoes should be fitted with tap plates using screw fittings (no rivets). There are specialist stockists in and around Covent Garden which can provide appropriate footwear. Clothing should be comfortable and loose.

Course programme

The classes will further expand and develop your knowledge of tap and will develop the dancer's ability to improvise. Acapella rhythms will also be explored. Technical development to tackle and improve more challenging steps for the dancer as well as use of arms and body to enhance performance.

As a group and individually. HEALTH CHECK You may or may not be asked to participate in rigorous activity from time to time. Please consider whether you could do this, if you are in any doubt consult a medical practitioner As part of the course content, your tutor may record your image for initial and ongoing assessment purposes. You are entitled to decline to participate in the recording of your image.
