On this practical course you will not only learn the basics of designing, creating and animating 3D model characters, but will storyboard, and film a short animated sequence using these models. You will learn how to use a wide range of materials in making your models including, wire, foam, latex, modelling clay and polystyrene. The animated sequences will be shot on iStopmotion and edited in Premiere Pro CC..

About this course

- Design characters
- Create basic 3D models using a range of materials
- storyboard a short narrative sequence
- Set up and record with HD cameras
- Capture animation using iStopMotion
- Import and edit animated clips in Premiere Pro to create a short narrative sequence.

Our high definition cameras and the latest professional equipment and software are available for your use throughout the course. It would be useful to bring a memory stick (or portable hard drive – please note PC formatted hard drives can be read by Apple mac computers, but not written to.) CDs/DVDs are available.

Course programme

- Designing characters
- Creating models using wire frames, foam, latex , modelling clay, polystyrene.
- Basic Storyboarding
- Setting up and recording with HD cameras
- Capturing animation using iStopMotion
- Basic editing using Premiere Pro CC.

You will be taught using a range of techniques including workshops, short lectures, demonstrations, practical exercises, tutorials, group and individual assistance and hand-outs. Please note the City Lit uses Apple Mac computers in Animation, Cartooning, Digital arts, Film, Graphics, Illustration, Photography and Web design.

You can further develop your skills and interest in Animation through a range of courses at the City Lit in animation, cartooning, illustration, digital film and editing courses. You can also enhance your work through a range of sound design courses at City Lit.
