You will have a standard of education equivalent to GCSE grades D-G. You will also attend an interview, and take an Initial Assessment. A keen interest in Travel & Tourism is also essential.

Course Level BTEC First Diploma

Description
The BTEC First Diploma is designed to provide specialist work-related qualifications in a range of sectors. They provide a preparation for employment and/or provide career development opportunities for those already in work.

Course Length
1 Year (full time).

What will I study?
A range of topics including the UK travel and tourism industry, exploring customer service, UK travel and tourism destinations, European holiday destinations, exploring marketing in travel and tourism and planning visits. You will also learn functional skills which are English, Maths and ICT as required.

How will I learn?
You will learn in state-of-the-art classrooms and Learning Clusters using hi-spec equipment, with access to the latest online learning materials delivered using Smartboards. The course will be taught using a variety of approaches, these include, practical work, directed learning on computers, independent study and tutorials.

How will I be assessed?
The programme is continually assessed on the basis of assignments and practical activities.

Where could it lead?
Progression to the BTEC National Diploma in Travel and Tourism (Merit Grade must be achieved). Employment within the Leisure and Tourism sectors i.e. leisure centres, tourist attractions, travel agencies, youth organisations and tourism advice.
