Course Level BTEC National Diploma

Description
The Travel and Tourism National Diploma prepares learners for employment in the sector and is suitable for 16 - 19 year olds who have already decided that they wish to enter this area of work.

Course Length
2 Years (full time).

What will I study?
A range of topics including the travel and tourism industry, the business of travel and tourism, marketing travel and tourism products and services, tourist destinations, customer service, and working in the travel and tourism industry. Retail travel operations, the cruise sector, tour operations, special interest tourism, holiday representatives, passenger transport operations, incoming and domestic tourism, tourism in the countryside, visitor attractions. You will also learn functional skills which are English, Maths and ICT as required.

How will I learn?
You will learn in state-of-the-art classrooms and Learning Clusters using hi-tec equipment, with access to the latest online learning materials delivered using Smartboards. You will taught using a variety of approaches, including practical work, directed learning on computers, independent study and tutorials.

How will I be assessed?
This programme is continually assessed on the basis of assignments and practical activities.

Where could it lead?
Employment within the travel and tourism sectors e.g. tourist attractions, travel agencies, airlines and airports; tourist information centres, conference centres, and hotels, or entry to Higher Education for HNC, HND and degree level programmes.
