Course programme

This knitwear course will provide you with a better understanding of the knitwear yarns and machinery used in bulk production. Samples will be studied so you can identify the most common knitwear structures used on the High Street. Performance, characteristics and cost implications will also be covered.

The course will be delivered at our Lime Grove site, where you can see the latest whole garment knitting machine and a linking machine in action. You should leave us better equipped to negotiate with suppliers and deal with any production issues, with a stronger grasp of terminology and the industry as a whole.

The course includes:
  • Yarn qualities and dyeing methods
  • Different knitted structures and common terminology
  • Machines and gauges
  • Demonstration of a whole garment knitting machine
  • Different methods of garment make up and linking demonstration

This course is suitable for product developers/ buyers/assistant buyers/designers and anyone who needs to gain a better understanding of knitted garments. The course would also suit garment technicians with little experience in this product area.
