This programme is designed for people who wish to gain a better understanding of the changing nature of society, legal aspects of equality and the benefits that can accrue from valuing diversity in clients, customers, colleagues and staff.
There are no particular entry requirements.
On successful completion of this course students will receive an accredited Level 2 Certificate of Achievement.

The home study course is split into the following 6 Units:
Unit One - IntroductionThe following topics are covered: Understanding Diversity, Stereotyping and prejudice, The case for valuing diversity, Ethics and values, Changes in society, People management, Legislation and Making the full use of human resources.
Unit Two - The Equality StrandsThe following topics are covered: Sex, race, Disability, Sexual orientation, Religion or belief, Gender reassignment and Age.
Unit Three - DiscriminationThe following topics are covered: What kind of discrimination? What is direct discrimination? What is less favourable treatment? What is indirect discrimination? Disability discrimination, victimisation and Harassment and bullying.
Unit Four - Key LegislationThe following topics are covered: Equal Pay Act 1970, Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, Sex Discrimination Act 1975, Disability Discrimination Act 1995, Human Rights Act 1998, Employment Act 2002, Race Relations Act 1976 (Amendment) Regulations 2003, Employment Equality (Religion or Belief) Regulations 2003 and Sex Discrimination Burden of Proof Regulations 2003.
Unit Five - Adopting & Promoting Good PracticeThe following topics are covered: With customer and clients, With colleagues, With employees, Managing, adopting and encouraging diversity and Moving from compliance to best practice.
