About the course:
The aim of this course is to enable the candidates to service and repair motor vehicles to a non-complex level. The course covers the following:

• Transmission
• Vehicle servicing and repair techniques
• Engine (and associated systems)
• Brakes
• Steering
• Suspension
• Vehicle Electrics
• Bodywork

Learning Style:
Students are required to build a portfolio of evidence obtained from carrying out workshop practical tasks and from theory sessaions delivered in the classroom.

Equipment Requirements:
Suitable boots and overalls will be required for the workshop practical sessions.

Assessment:
Motor Vehicle and repair NVQ level 2 - national vocational qualification assessed by practical assessments in the workplace and college, plus City and Guild objective tests.

Progression:
Successful students may progress on to the C&G level 3 in Light or Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.

Requirement
ABC Certificate in Motor Vehicle (L1) and appropriate level of spoken and written English Literacy Level 1 (students with English as a second language are required to have ESOL at level 1), as the course contains a high level of technical and written theory work. It is also dependent upon your motivation, desire and commitment some industrial experience an advantage. This course is open to students also wishing to gain a qualification in auto electrics.
Students working towards a NVQ qualification will need suitable work experience or employment to produce the required portfolio evidence.
