You will need to be 18 years old or above and have an interest in caring for others as well as a commitment to an holistic approach to health. Formal qualifications in English i.e GCSE grade A-C or Key Skills Level 2 are also required.

COURSE SUMMARY
You will develop an in-depth knowledge of basic massage techniques.
WHAT WILL I STUDY?
You will study basic massage techniques which include effleurage, petrissage, tapotement and vibration.
You will gain an understanding of postural defects and aftercare treatments which include posture improvement, mobility and deep breathing exercises.
You will be required to study Anatomy & Physiology and Health & Saftey as there will be an external exam.
WHAT ARE MY COMMITMENTS?
You will need a minimum of 80% course attendance due to practical demonstrations and assessment. A commitment to both theoretical home study and practical work is essential (approximately 5 hours per week). You will need to complete 3 case studies.
You will also need to produce a portfolio of work to be monitored by an Internal and External Verifier.

You will achieve a VTCT Certificate in Swedish Body Massage.

WHAT CAN I DO AFTERWARDS?
On sucessful completion of this course you could work as a qualified Swedish massage therapist in health establishments, gyms or sports centres. Alternatively you could progress on to a Diploma in Body, Sport or Remedial Massage or Hot Stones Therapy . There are also other Holistic Therapy courses available to you to help increase your knoweldge and experience in this area.
