Course Content: The Theatrical and Media Makeup course is a combination of hairdressing and makeup. On the programme you will cover a range of subjects that will equip you for work in the television industry or related opportunities. Some of the subjects covered are character make up, special effects and theatre makeup, also hairdressing techniques such as styling, wigs and postiche.

Units comprise of:

· Apply hairdressing techniques for media make-up

· Provide wigs and postiche for media make-up

· Prepare for and provide character make-up

· Provide and remove special effects and media make-up

· Provide air brushing for skin

Special Features: A uniform will be required approx £45 and a kit approx cost £250

Progression: To work in film and TV, Level 3 hairdressing, Level 3 Nail Technologies or University to study Media Makeup.

Entry Requirement:
Level 2 in Hair or Beauty Therapy, GCSE grade C in English and Maths or key skills/adult Literacy and Numeracy Level 2. Applicants need to have a keen sense of colour and be able to demonstrate evidence of creative ability through a portfolio of work or practical demonstration. If your level 2 qualification is older than 3 years the units VR02 and VR74 (Health and Safety) will have to be studied along side the programme. In order to gain employment in the industry level 2 Hair and Beauty are obligatory.
