On this more advanced watercolour course, we will explore in more depth primary, secondary and tertiary colour mixing and practice more advanced watercolour techniques in relation to the still-life. We will be painting on different scales, and creating studies to build up to large abstracted compositional watercolours . Projects will take place based around still life set ups in the studio and museum visits where students will be encouraged to develop a more personal approach to their use of watercolour.

Course programme

• Recap primary, secondary and tertiary colour mixing
• Advanced watercolour techniques for still life painting
• Painting on different scales
• Use of studies and watercolour sketches for development of ideas.

You will be taught by demonstration, individual and group tuition and discussion. There will be two offsite musuem visits. There are watercolour paints available for the first session, but students are encouraged to bring their own paints and a large watercolour brush as the course develops. Advice on all materials will be given at the first session. There is a charge for the watercolour paper we use at cost price.
