On this life painting course, students will be encouraged to develop a more personal approach to their use of watercolour. We will explore in more depth primary, secondary and tertiary colour mixing and practice more advanced watercolour techniques in relation to the figure and the portrait. There will be an introduction to anatomy by working from the skeleton in conjunction with the life model.

About this course
- Gain an understanding of different watercolour techniques particular to painting the human form and the skeleton
- Develop your skills in colour mixing in relation to the life model
- Vary your approach to mark making
- Improve on your composition and observational measuring skills
- Develop a personal response to the figure/nude painting genre.
There are watercolour paints available for the first session, but students are encouraged to bring their own paints and a large watercolour brush as the course develops. Advice on all materials will be given at the first session. There is a charge for the watercolour paper we use at cost price.

Course programme
We will cover primary, secondary and tertiary colour mixing and expand upon the watercolour techniques particular to painting portraits and the human form, such as wet on wet, dry brush etc to vary your approach to paint handling. We will cover accuracy of measuring and proportion and we will also be looking at art historical studies and/ or making a museum visit.
You will be taught by demonstration, practical application, individual tutition and group discussion.Additional information
