Course summary

As Oscar Wilde said, "No man is rich enough to buy back his past." Spending your time effectively will mean you get much more out of your life. It is the key to work life balance and wellbeing at work.

The course shows managers how to take a positive approach to time management. It highlights the skills and techniques required to make the most of every day, without feeling overwhelmed by the demands of your job and your team.

Course outline

Like money, time can be spent wisely - or unwisely. This course for managers teaches you how to budget time more effectively, so that you can make improvements to your working day, your output and your quality of life.
Over the day you will cover:
  • how you use your time at present, and how you would like that to change
  • organisational culture and its impact on time management
  • valuing your time - how much is it worth?
  • your top timewasters
  • managing stress and burn-out
  • the four tools of time management
  • prioritising, planning and scheduling (including using Gantt charts and other tools)
  • handling interruptions: paper, phones and email
  • personal action plans for change
The course uses a mixture of open discussion, case studies, work-related exercises and trainer input to enable you to consider your current use of time, and to develop strategies for changing what you want and need to change. Participants are asked to keep a time diary for two to three working days before the course, and to bring it along with them.
"Very professional training with a range of methods. Excellent facilities". PB, Advocacy Partners
"Thought provoking. A good use of time." GW, Calfordseaden LLP
"Very good course - focussed and punchy." JA, Essex Adoption Service
"Good content, relevant and motivating. The trainer was interesting and informative." SD, Save the Children
