Outline and Learning Objectives

On completion of this course you will be able to:

• Understand and be able to describe how literacy skills are important and can be applied in everyday life.
• Understand your own abilities in relation to the new Basic Skills Standards at Entry Level, Level 1 and Level 2.
• Demonstrate your level of achievement and how you have improved your skills in speaking and listening, reading and writing.
• Use the Word Skills Check, and the Activities section within A Way with Words to work out your ongoing learning.
• Own and control your learning, including a programme of learning worked out with your tutor.
• Describe the personal benefits obtained from participation.
