What's it all about?:
As a qualified electrician you need to ensure that work you do from July 2008 complies with the 17th edition of the IEE Wiring Regulations. On our one day course, you will get a sound and thorough practical grounding in all relevant changes to the amended regulations, focusing on installation design, inspection, testing and certification. You will emerge confident that when you plan, erect, protect, test and inspect yours, or anyone else's, work that it complies.

Entry Requirements:
In accordance with City & Guilds regulations, you must provide a copy of your certificate as listed below:

· City & Guilds Level 3 Certificate in the Requirements for Electrical Installations BS 7671: June 2001 (2381), or

· City & Guilds Level 3 Certificate in Electrotechnical Technology Installation (Building and Structures) (2330-07), or

· City & Guilds Level 3 Certificate in Electrotechnical Technology Electrical Maintenance (2330-08), or

· City & Guilds Level 3 Certificate in Electrical Installation Part Two (2360) (from January 1 2004 onwards only), or

· City & Guilds 2351 (only if achieved as part of an Electrotechnical Advanced Apprenticeship completed post 1 January 2004). Both certificates will be required.

You should be conversant with the structure, terminology and main technical requirements of the 16th Edition.

It is essential that course delegates bring with them a copy of BS 7671:2008 The 17th Edition of the IEE Wiring Regulations (ISBN 978-0-86341-844-0).

This course covers all new materials/changes within these parts of the 17th Edition.

· Introduction and structure of BS 7671:2008.

· Scope, object and fundamental principles.

· Definitions.

· Assessment of general characteristics.

· Protection for safety.

· Selection and erection of equipment.

· Inspection and testing.

· Special installations and locations.

Various days, 8.30am - 4.00pm

Are there any exams?:
You will be required to sit a City & Guilds online examination in addition to attending the one day course. This will be a one hour, open book exam consisting of 30 multiple-choice questions.
