What will I study?
The Intermediate Construction Award is made up of seven units and one phase test. You will study carpentry and joinery tasks of a non-complex nature, individual work programmes with periodic reviews, tutorials, individually assessed tasks and Key Skills.

Mandatory units
Erecting and Dismantling Basic Working Platforms. Using Portable Power Tools. Skirting, Architraves and Hinged Doors, First and Second Fix, Carcassing before Finished Work, Store Resources, Work Efficiently.

Key Skills
Communication and Application of Number.

How will I learn?
Your individual learning plan will help you learn in a way that best suits your needs. You will agree a work programme with your tutor, which will include the setting of individually, assessed task, periodic reviews and tutorials.

How will I be assessed?
Progressive assessments of all course elements are carried out on an individual basis.
All assessments contribute towards course units, which will build for certification. Assessment includes some external tests.

Where could it lead?
The course will provide you with the necessary skills, training and knowledge to progress to NVQ achievement in carpentry and joinery. You could also progress to employment or other work based training in the construction industry.
