Course Level 2

Description

Course Length
An apprenticeship in Carpentry and Joinery will take 22 months to complete.

What will I study?
The following will be included in the programme:

Identify/organise basic access equipment
Identify, receive, store, allocate and handle resources
Demonstrate communication skills with clients and colleagues
Site Joinery:

Install first fixing components before plaster work
Install second fixing components after plaster work
Erect structural carcassing components

Continuous assessment plus a portfolio of evidence to relate to Site Joinery.

Technical Certificates - Intermediate Construction Award
The Intermediate Construction Award (ICA), which ensures the learners underpinning knowledge and understanding in the occupational area, is assessed via external examination.

Enhancements
Produce timber and timber based products (circular saw)

Key Skills
Key skills are a range of generic skills, which are fully integrated into the vocational qualification. Assessment of these key skills is via portfolio evidence and external examination. However, exemption can be gained from proxy qualification.

Application of Number Level 1 - This develops the candidates ability to interpret straightforward information, carry out calculations accurately, and interpret results and present findings using charts and diagrams.

Communication Level 1 - This develops the candidates ability to read and identify main points and ideas from documents and write about straightforward subjects.

Health & Safety Test - Test undertaken at a registered Driving Theory Test Centre
