WHAT'S IT ALL ABOUT?
The course is made up of the following units plus a final phase test:

Basic Working Platforms, Using Portable Power Tools, Floors, Roofing, Architraves and Hinged Doors, Carcassing Work, 1st Fix Work, 2nd Fix Work, Work Efficiently, Storing Materials and Health and Safety.

WHAT WILL I STUDY?
You will study and achieve the following qualifications while on the course:

Basic Construction Skills
Diploma Level 2
Functional Skills Level 2

Each element comprises of both practical work and theory knowledge. There will be continuous practical assessments and exams to help you gain your qualifications throughout the academic year.

You will also complete a programme of Functional Skills in English, Maths and ICT. These Functional Skills are an essential requirement for employment progression, higher education and other further education courses.

On your course you will have a tutorial period which is designed to support your learning and assist your progress. In addition there are activities to enrich your experience both in your chosen trade and in your student social life.

WHAT ARE MY COMMITMENTS?
The course requires a minimum of 15 hours per week study, plus any additional support workshop sessions identified. You will need to attend all of the timetabled classes and tutorial/support sessions. If your attendance falls below 85% you may not be able to complete your studies.

The timetable should be one of the following:

Monday 9.00am to 5.00pm and Tuesday 9.00am to 4.00pm or
Thursday 9.00am to 5.00pm and Friday 9.00am to 5.00pm
