About this course

Explain the nature of addiction
Outline what constitutes a thorough assessment process
Describe at least 2 current treatment methods
Identify one way in which your new knowledge about addiction can be integrated into your own practice.

Textbooks are available in libraries but buying at least one of the recommended texts would be helpful if you are interested in the field of addiction. The tutor will give out a list of recommended texts at the start of the course.

Current treatment methods such as Motivational Interviewing, Systems Theory, CBT, Person Centred Therapy.

You should expect a combination of lecturing, group and class dicussions as well as other activities and role-play. In order to gain the maximum benefit from the course it is advisable to read all the material issued by the tutor.
