Working with German-Beginners
Your Course
This course introduces students to the German language, concentrating on the language you would need when travelling to Germany on business. We will begin with formal greetings and learning the alphabet so that you can spell your name in German and give addresses over the phone. We will learn numbers in order to communicate about basic monetary matters and facilitate the use of telephone and faz. We will learn how to order food and drink and to ask for basic needs whilst staying in a hotel. We will look at timetables and buying tickets for transport, ordering a car or taxi. We will look at the format of formal letters and emails.
The course is based on a communicative approach and aims to develop the skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing in the foreign language. It aims to enable students to understand and use German effectively and with confidence for purposes or practical communication, to develop understanding of German grammar and to offer insight into the culture of German-speaking countries.
the course book will be confirmed. There will be a variety of authintic reding materials and spoken texts. Power-point presentations will be used in class to demonstrate language and grammar as well as stimulate interaction between students.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the week course you will have been given the opportunity to:
· Develop the ability to understand specific details or extracts.
· Discuss and write brief details about yourself and your work. You will be able to express basic opinions.
· You will learn common verbs in the present, perfect tense and future tensxe and develop an understanding how verb patterns work in German.
Your Tutor
Gees Boland is a qualified teacher of German and French. She has also worked with students in adult education and curriculum based settings, encompassing beginners, GCSE and A levels. Gees Boland's qualifications include BA [Hons] in French and German, and PGCE from the department of Education in Cambridge. She believes that language learning should be fun, challenging, diverse and informative and looks forward to welcoming you to her class

Tuition fees: £99
Method of payment: Fees for short courses (10 weeks or less) to be paid in full at enrolment and for long courses (12 weeks or more) fees of 50% can be paid at enrolment plus 50% as a cheque. Course places cannot be reserved without receipt of both payments.

Please note that there are no classes during half term Monday 15th - Friday 19th February 2010 unless otherwise stated.
