Course programme

The course will cover food symbolism, the interaction between ecology and taste, social dimensions of eating, conviviality, and religious avoidances, ritual food behaviour, and food taboos in order to dispel the idea that food is just nourishment.

The course is run through a mix of teaching methods, which include lectures, slide presentations, film clips, group work, question and answer, brainstorming sessions, the use of charts, and class discussion.
