Identify postal IED's , their component parts and Method of Attack. Respond correctly and safely to the discovery of a suspect package/device. Act correctly on receipt of a bomb warning. Carry out the correct procedures in the event of an evacuation. Identify suitable evacuation areas. Suitable for: Security Managers, Security Officers, Post room staff and anyone who works in a post room or courier reception where mail is received. This course is also suitable for training security officers in baggage scanning.

Ideally candidates should be familiar with the operation of a scanning x-ray machine, however, with additional tuition time, this can be taught.

Course programme

This course provides an awareness to students who have x-ray operating experience but little or no previous knowledge of the threat from Postal devices including; Improvised Explosive or Incendiary Devices (IED/IID’s) and recognition of their component parts. The action to be taken on discovery of a suspect package or upon receipt of a bomb threat and interpretation of x-ray images. The course can be designed to meet the requirements of non x-ray machine trained personnel with extra time
