Aerobics Instructor- Exercise to Music
Exercise to Music Course (Module) This workshop teaches you the fundamental principles of structuring a safe and effective Step Aerobics class. Master class and choreography handouts are provided along with a Workshop manual. You will learn all the basic step moves, plus how to incorporate: impact, direction, step approach, style, arm lines, linking and combining moves, and the use of music. This will enable
you to create many step routines for your own classes.

Exercise to Music Instructor Module Format
This is a six-day Practical Workshop delivered over two weekends, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. This is followed by a practical assessment four to six weeks after the
Workshop.

On the Exercise to Music Course you will learn the following:

· How to structure a safe and effective mixed ability class
· Effective instruction and cueing techniques
· How to work with the beats and phrases of the music
· Health and Safety issues.

We aim to make the Exercise to Music Course Practical Workshop both enjoyable and demanding. You'll need to keep mentally alert, because there's a lot to learn, but it's fun too. As well as practical work, you will need to complete some written work to show how you've planned your class.

The Exercise to Music Course Assessment
The theory for this Exercise to Music Course is assessed in a one-hour multi-choice exam, which you take on the first day of the Practical Workshop. You get the chance to repeat the exam should you fail. The Practical assessment for the Exercise to Music Instructor course follows typically at least four weeks after the Workshop.

The assessment includes both practical and written work, and meets the required standard for Stage 1 of the OCR NVQ Level 2 in Exercise to Music. There's always a very high pass rate on Future Fit Training courses, so there's nothing to worry about!

Exercise to Music Module Content
  • Health and Safety guidelines
  • Designing appropriate warm ups and cool downs
  • Identifying and instructing appropriate aerobic exercises for an exercise to music class
  • Identifying and instructing appropriate muscular strength and endurance exercises for an exercise to music class
  • Class management and coaching skills
  • Voice projection, motivation and cueing skills
  • Planning and building 32 beat combinations
  • How to work with the beats and phrases of the music
Certification and Credits
After passing the multi-choice exam and practical assessment, you will be awarded the Future Fit Training NVQ Level 2 Stage 1 Exercise to Music Instructor Certificate - your licence to teach. You will also receive 16 REPs CPD points. Following a period of work experience, and a successful 2nd Stage assessment, you will gain a full NVQ Level 2.

On Future Fit

Provider description
Future Fit Training was founded in 1993. At that time, Rob and Kath Johnson were managing a number of health clubs, and were becoming very dissatisfied with the standards of training and expertise offered by instructor job applicants. There was obviously a need for better training, higher standards and for more consistency and value in qualifications. This led them to believe that they could improve on the training offered by other organisations, including colleges. And so Future Fit Training was born, first as a local training provider, and three years later as a national company.

In 1997, Future Fit Training became the first training provider to offer the newly launched NVQ Level 2 in Exercise and Fitness, and now offers NVQ3 alongside our diplomas.

Since then, we have grown, but have never lost sight of the need to drive up standards of teaching, and to deliver meaningful qualifications that employers take notice of.

In 2001, Future Fit Training became a Founder Member of The Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs), which was set up to help safeguard and promote the health and interests of people who are using the services of exercise and fitness instructors, teachers and trainers. Anyone looking to work within the fitness industry as an instructor at any level should ensure that their training and qualifications will gain them entry to the register, and with Future Fit Training you can be sure that you will receive high quality training and qualifications that will gain you entry to the register.

In March 2005, Future Fit Training continued to lead the way by becoming the first training provider to offer the newly launched NVQ Level 3 in Exercise and Fitness (which is now the bench-mark qualification for advanced instructors in the industry).

March 2008 saw Future Fit Training become the first health and fitness training provider to achieve ISO 9001 registration with the British Standards Institute.

The BSI was founded over 100 years ago and is probably the best known certifier of quality standards worldwide. The BSI Management Systems enjoys a number one ranking in North American and UK certification markets and BSI have led the way in developing management systems standards, having pioneered the top six: including BS 5750, the forerunner to the ISO 9000 series which has been adopted by over three-quarters of a million organizations in 161 countries and BS 7750, the forerunner to ISO 14000.

We are now one of only 40,909 companies in the UK to be ISO 9001 certified which puts us in the top 2% of all UK businesses and we're excited about what this means for our students and customers. As a company we've always placed a huge emphasis on delivering a quality product, from the importance we place on customer service to the excellent level of quality training we deliver. We're delighted to now have these attributes recognised in such a prestigious award and we'll continue, as ever, to deliver the best quality in the industry.

Regular BSI audits will ensure that Future Fit Training continue to maintain the highest standards as the company grows and with its outstanding record of success, Future Fit Training is now acknowledged by the whole industry as the leading training provider for fitness professionals in the UK.
