What will I study?
Session 1: Begins with the completion of a short health screening questionnaire, providing the trainer with information of any individual health issues. This is followed by an introduction to the breathing techniques and a in-depth explanation about the development and maintenance of the 'core' muscles.
Sessions 2 - 6: Each session will begin with a gentle warm-up, followed by a series of controlled exercises, varying from week to week, specifically designed to tone and stretch different parts of the body. The session will conclude with a warm-down, leaving the individual focused and calm.

Is pilates like yoga?
Many similarities are made between yoga and pilates, but in reality there are few. Essentially pilates focuses on the connection between mind and body whereas yoga's is mind, body and spirit. Pilates aims to develop 'core' muscles, whereas yoga develops the whole body equally.
Is pilates right for me?
Choose pilates to improve the 'core' postural muscles which help to strengthen the lower back and flatten tummies, especially after pregnancy. Pilates is also recommended for those who need to maintain the body's strength while recovering from an injury of any kind, especially those of the lower back.
What should I wear?
Comfortable, loose clothing (jogging pants and T shirt are ideal). Usually pilates is carried out in bare feet, but you may prefer to wear socks.
Do I need to bring any equipment?
Mats are provided, but if you would prefer to use your own then you can. A small hand towel and small cushion may also be useful as support for some excercises. A bottle of water is also recommended.
