Apprenticeship in Active Leisure & Learning (Level 2)

Course summary:
This course provides learners with opportunities to develop their knowledge and skills in order to increase their opportunities to secure employment in a sport & recreation environment.

Course content:
The theory and practice of the Sport & Recreation as detailed below in the NVQ Level 2 qualification

*Prepare for a session
*Lead a session
*Conclude and review a session
*Contribute to the work of your team
*Promote safety in the sport and activity environment
Support the protection of children from abuse
Set up, take down and store equipment
*mandatory units

Optional units may vary according to work placement and / or personal preferences. Other elements of the course will include work on key skills (depending upon previous academic results) and industry standard technical certificates.

Course structure:
Trainees will be based at an approved employer and will attend college for one-day per week to augment the training they are receiving at their work-based placements

Assessment procedure:
A variety of assessment procedures will be operating; namely, practical performance, written portfolio and a multiple choice test.


Qualifications achieved:
• Edexcel Level 2 Sport, Recreation & Allied Occupations: Activity Leadership
• City & Guilds Level 2 Certificate in Industrial and Organisational Awareness for the Active Leisure and Learning Industry (4851)
• EdExcel BTEC First Certificate in Sport (Level 2 )
• Health and Safety Executive First Aid at Work or Appointed Person†s Certificate
• Level 1 in Application of Number
• Level 1 in Communication
