Be equipped to conduct an "in-depth" safety audit of their own area of responsibility. Be able to plan an achievable programme for improving safety standards within their own areas of responsibility, using a formal risk assessment approach. Be aware of the main sources of accidents at work and their chief causes. Understand the duties imposed by the law, regulations and codes of practice as they translate into practicable measures. Suitable for: Members of management of safety committees in a "lay" or specialist role, including line managers/safety committee "Chairs", safety officers/safety co-ordinators, union appointed safety representatives, occupational health advisers, "lay" members from shop floor or office backgrounds.

Course Content
- Equip delegates to conduct "in depth" safety audits of their entire site.
- Enable delegates to plan for health, safety and welfare using a systematic risk assessment.
- Emphasise to delegates the main causes of accidents at work and ideas for preventing them.
- Help delegates to understand their legal responsibilities and the meaning of the legal term "reasonably practicable".
- Help members of management and/or safety committees to improve their contribution to the continuous improvement of health, safety and welfare standards.
