Course Description:
Programme Aims
This is a short course for complete beginners and aims to provide students with the basic survival language needed for holidays.
Programme Content
The following situations will be covered
Introducing self and others
Buying food and drink (in shops and restaurants)
Asking for directions
Booking into a hotel
Travelling by public transport
Teaching and Learning Styles
A variety of methods are employed including frequent pair and group work. The emphasis is on speaking and listening, although there will be some written homework for reinforcement.

Assessment and Progression:
There is no final examination. Assessment is informal and is based on the tutor's observation of simulations/role-plays. This leads to the award of a College Certificate.
Progression
This course leads to an ABC Entry 3 course and qualification, offered in the same academic year, starting in January, and to the GCSE class the following year.
