This two day course will give participants the fundamental skills and knowledge which is necessary in providing excellent supervision to their staff within the social care sector. Suitable for: Staff who have recently begun supervising staff or who have been supervising for a while but have received little or no training in the subject.

Objectives & Course Content
By the end of this course you should be able to:
- Define what constitues goo and poor practie in supervision
- Explain the benefits of supervision
- Understand the role of the supervisor
- Draw together the key elements of supervision: Education/development, task & support
- Identify the range of skills required for good supervision
- Understand the four evolutionary stages in a supervisory relationship
- Demonstrate some active listening skills, including the use of silence, body lanopen & reflective questioning & summarising
- Know how to build the supervision relationship including the negotiation and use of supervision contracts; practical arrangements, structure and confidentiality and note taking.
- Know how to start off; what to cover in the few first sessions.
