Course programme
Throughout the course students will be expected to cover an array of topics which will both challenge and enlighten - offering opportunities to broaden their analytical skills. Political theorists explore how and why societies change and develop, in terms of their political, economic and social systems. However, explaining societal change is not a simple matter, and political theorists disagree on how progress ought to be made. The study of politics therefore demands reasoned debate over different interpretations of political theory. Students will need to be pragmatic and evaluative; constructing their arguments based on research and evidence. We study the EdExcel syllabus: Paper 1 - UK Politics and Core Political Ideas (33% of the qualification). Paper 2 - UK Government and Non-core Political Ideas (33% of the qualification). Paper 3 - Comparative Politics (33% of the qualification).
