What is the AAT Foundation course?
The AAT Foundation course will enable you to process a variety of financial records; construct control accounts and prepare trial balances both manually and using information technology. Therefore, a good standard of numeracy and literacy is required before enrolling on to the course.
NB An interview and aptitude test is required before you can enrol on this course.
Course topics
Units include:
- Recording income and receipts
- Recording expenditure
- Preparing Control Accounts and initial Trial Balances
- Providing basic management information
- Working with information technology
- Contributing to business effectiveness
- Monitoring and maintaining a healthy, safe and secure workplace
- Sage computerised accounting
You will receive four hours of classroom tuition a week and undertake a variety of practical exercises.
You will be expected to put aside at least three to four hours a week for personal study.
Assessment details
Currently students take four classroom assessments at various stages during the year; the external assessment is taken in June.

AAT Intermediate NVQ Level 3.

This is a Learning & Skills Council (LSC) funded course and you may be exempt from the tuition fee, however you would be required to pay the registration fee at the time of application.
If you do not already have a full level 2 qualification (ie 5 GCSEs at A* - C, an NVQ Level 2 or an equivalent qualification) you may qualify for free tuition and registration fees on this course.
Tuition fees for overseas students may vary from those quoted.
Extra costs : AAT membership fee £74, compulsory textbooks and workbook £66 calculator, writing materials, paper and A4 file.
