AAT Intermediate Level
What will I study?
This course is designed for those wishing to start a career in the accountancy profession. The Association of Accounting Technicians is gained through three stages; Foundation, Intermediate and Technician. On completion of the final stage and provided they have relevant working experience, students become members of the AAT. It is a highly regarded professional qualification and increasingly popular with employers. As an AAT qualified accounting technician you will have an internationally recognised and respected qualification that shows potential employers that they have been trained to a high standard. The Intermediate level runs two evenings per week or one full day per week for one year. Continual assessment takes place in class during the year in all subject areas and there are external examinations in certain subject areas.

How can I progress?
Students will progress onto the Technician level of the course. In addition, if successful at Intermediate level and other college set criteria have been met, students could progress on to the Foundation Degree in Accountancy.

What will I need to qualify for this course?
In order to qualify for this course students must have either; *AAT Foundation, *GCSE Accounts (Grade A - C). In addition, there is a mature entrants route available to persons over 21 with four years relevant experience. Students entering at this level should be totally confident with double-entry bookkeeping and be aware of the level of commitment needed. Students will be expected to complete weekly homework tasks and to be prepared to study 6+ hours in their own time.

Course Structure
Whilst studying towards this qualification the following modules will be covered; *Maintaining financial records and preparing accounts, incomplete records, extended trial balance, acquisition and disposal of fixed assets, depreciation, final accounts of sole traders and partnerships *Reports and returns, statistics, changing prices, ratios, performance indicators, report writing, VAT returns, laws and regulations, documentation. *Working with computers, monitor and maintain a healthy, safe and secure workplace. *Recording cost information, analysing information relating to direct costs, allocation, apportionment and absorption of indirect costs, standard cost reports.
