In these short practical workshops you will explore the popular animation technique of silhouette cut out animation made famous by Lotte Reineger. You will learn how to create and animate a cut out figure and composite it against a vibrant animated background.

About this course

- Recognise some of the work of Lotte Reineger
- Create a cut out figure that moves and plan an animated sequence
- Animate a cut out figure against a green screen background using iStopMotion
- Animate a background using iStopMotion
- Composite the animated figure against the animated background using Premiere Pro CC
- Enhance the silhouette using effects in Premiere Pro CC
- Export the short animated sequence as a movie.

Our high definition cameras and the latest professional equipment and software are available for your use throughout the course. It would be useful to bring a memory stick (or portable hard drive – please note PC formatted hard drives can be read by Apple mac computers, but not written to.).

You will be taught using a range of techniques including demonstrations, practical exercises, group and individual assistance and hand-outs. Please note the City Lit uses Apple Mac computers in Animation, Cartooning, Digital arts, Film, Graphics, Illustration, Photography and Web design.
