Arabic Absolute Beginners Level 1

Your Course
This is an introductory 10 week course. Each unit covers the basic language for everyday situations as well as developing language skills. It provides a step-by-step approach for complete beginners
Each two hour class will be planned to revise and build on language taught in the preceding class(es). Throughout the course the emphasis will be on speaking, listening and learning how to form the Arabic script. Students will be encouraged to practise between lessons.
During this course students will take a short assessment in speaking Arabic at beginners' level. This assessment has been devised by OCR Asset languages and is good preparation for the External test that will be taken at the end of the first year of study.
This course feeds into Beginners Level 2 (Summer Term 2010) and then Beginners Level 3 (Autumn Term 2010).
The course book is"Mastering Arabic"by Jane Wightwick and Mahmoud Gaafar. ISBN no: 0-333-49037-1, chapter 1-8.

Your Tutor
Huda Tello-Kuwaider is a native Arabic speaker from Damascus, Syria where she obtained a BA degree in English Literature. She taught English as a foreign language at an International school in Damascus for one year and in 1992 she began teaching Arabic and Islamic studies to children at the Syrian Community School in London. She has also given private tution (Arabic) to non-natives. She has recently obtained the PTTLS Award (Preparing to Teach in the Life Long Sector) from Hills Road Sixth Form College. She is currently working for the OCR and CIE as an item writer, moderator and editor.

Tuition fees: £95
Method of payment: Fees for short courses (10 weeks or less) to be paid in full at enrolment and for long courses (12 weeks or more) fees of 50% can be paid at enrolment plus 50% as a cheque. Course places cannot be reserved without receipt of both payments.
