We will explore a couple of paintings in the National Gallery’s collection, looking at the context in which they were made, the artist who made them, and how to analyse their symbolism to unravel their meaning. You will also have the opportunity to ask individually about art history courses offered by the City Lit and to discuss opportunities for further study.

You will be taught with a slide lecture, group and individual discussion. You may wish to bring a notebook.
