CACHE Level 2 Certificate
Introduction
The Certificate in Child Care & Education is a one year programme of study and provides training to work with children as an assistant in a range of settings including nursery assistant and pre-school assistant.
The qualification provides a secure foundation of knowledge and skills gained in the classroom and work placements.
Course Content

• Unit 1 An introduction to working with children
• Unit 2 The Deveolping Child
• Unit 3 Safe, healthy and nuturing environments for children
• Unit 4 Chidren and Play
• Unit 5 Communication and professional Skills
• Unit 6 The Practitioner in the Workplace
• Unit 7 Working with Children 0 to 5 years old

Entry Requirements
Candidateswill usually be 16 years of age or older and possess a minimum of 4 GCSE grade D or a foundation level qualification.
Duration
1 year full time course consisting of three days in College and two days in work placement, candidates should undertake the following pattern of work placements linked to age ranges:
1-3 years -30 days
4-7 years -20 days
Option units -15 days
Candidates are required to attend a minimum of 80% of the adopted hours for each module in order to achieve the module.
Assessment
Candidates on the course are assessed continually throughout the duration of the course through national assignments, work placement, assessment and end test.
Progression
The AWARD/CERTIFICATE/A LEVEL 2 DIPLOMA in Childcare & Education is nationally recognised for employment purposes in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. The award provides a sound basis for candidates to progress to other qualifications that are of a more advanced level.
It can offer progression to a Level 3 qualification.
