About this course

Applicants will need four GCSEs at grade D or above including English, Maths or a Science. All students must attend an assessment day. And Basic Construction Level 1 Plumbing 6127-01.

Aim
This is a 1 year course which provides workshop training delivering practical skills and underpinning knowledge relating to plumbing. Training will take place in our state-of-the-art workshop facilities and will be delivered by professionals from the industry.

Content
The programme provides training in the following areas:
· Safety
· Key plumbing principles
· Common plumbing processes
· Hot/cold water, sanitation systems, central heating systems (pipe work only)
· Electrical supply and earth continuity
· Environmental awareness.

Assessment methods
Technology - You will be required to undertake and pass 11 end unit exams and 1 end potpourri GOLA exam based on all the other exams.
Practical - You will be assessed against criteria set out by City & Guilds.

Progression/career opportunities
Successful learners will be able to progress on to NVQ training, or undertake an apprenticeship.

Extra information Students will be required to purchase personal protective equipment (PPE) including overalls and boots. There is a £60 fee on all construction courses to cover the cost of your equipment including text books, files, pens, pencils, scale ruler, tape measure etc. to be paid at enrolment.

Screening
Students will also be screened (in the College) and must achieve literacy and numeracy at the level appropriate to the course.
