This course will give you a grounding in the basics of a healthy vocal technique and provide experience of singing solo in a supportive environment. It will also help you to have a realistic understanding of the level of work and commitment needed in order to progress as a solo performer.
In module 1 we will explore the voice and study the importance of posture and breathing in relation to rhythm.

About this course
- Apply your knowledge of the basics of singing
- Use body posture as an asset in singing
- Sing simple songs rhythmically and in tune
- Perform simple songs and exercises in front of the class.
- A notebook and pencil for taking notes, a folder, sheet music as required, and a course book as advised. You are encouraged to acquire copies of music to be studied during the year. Music may be purchased new or second-hand and/or available from local libraries. Westminster Central Music Library (Victoria) and the Barbican Music Library have very comprehensive collections.
