History

Baumann's Brasserie has an interesting history. It is located in a 16th century half-timbered building which was originally converted into a restaurant in 1986 by world-renowned Peter Langan, of Langan's Brasserie, together with his young French-trained head chef Mark Baumann.Over the years, both the brasserie and Mark Baumann have earned numerous awards and commendations. The brasserie is featured in all the major food guides, Mark has been elected a Master Chef of Great Britain and was recently named in the International Who's Who of Chefs. But as Mark says, 'Our finest accolades are those awarded to us by our regular clientele.' Though never a slave to food fashion, the brasserie menu has evolved over the years to reflect changing tastes. One thing has remained the same - the quality. Everyone in the restaurant believes in consistency above all, both in the cuisine and the standard of service.

Description

Located in the charming market town of Coggeshall, Baumanns Brasserie regularly attracts plaudits from its clientele and food critics alike. The inspiration behind the brasserie is proprietor and award-winning chef, Mark Baumann. He has created a perfect informal environment in which to meet with friends or clients and experience cooking of a very high standard, always with top-quality locally sourced ingredients.Like the food, the emphasis in the décor is on enjoyment and just the right amount of originality. The restaurant brings a touch of the metropolitan to the heart of Essex, but without the high prices and any hint of pretension.
